5th annual Wine and Words–with a contest!

unnamed-225x300This will be the fifth year I’ve helped to organize a Wine and Words tasting at Winter’s Hill Estate. I’ve written here before about the fun of reading aloud, and listening to others. Back in February 2011, no less, with Tasting Notes after our first event. This year’s word flights will include fiction, poetry, translation, and–for the first time–live theater! Read all about it on on the Winter’s Hill blog. Scheduled readers include Karen McPherson, Brian Doyle, Cai Emmons, Paul Calandrino, and Amalia Gladhart.

I’ll be bringing a Sgt. String story, maybe a new translation, a work in progress.

Also new this year: a word contest for tasters. Make up a word, describe a wine, send it in, and build the language as you build your library–of wine or books. Sounds fun, right? The skinny: Invent the best, never-before-heard wine descriptor and use it in a sentence. Winners will be announced during event on February 15. Email entries to Paul@wintershillwine.com
. There’s a limit of one entry per person, so send your best! Deadline: Thursday, February 12, 2015.
Prizes: Chance to wine free books, wine tastings, and discounted wine.

If you’re in the area, do join us! And send in your descriptor for the contest.
